A Fashionista & Stylista In Julius Tarog

November 20, 2021

A member of San Beda High School Class 1988, Julius Tarog has always been a fashionista and stylista. No wonder, he embarked a career in fashion design and, eventually, a stylist to some of country’s biggest names in show business.

As he recalls his student days, he has always fancied about the beauty of clothes especially when they are being sashayed by models in fashion shows. Despite taking up Interior Design in college, he was attracted to the fashion industry. Proof to this was his work as a part time production coordinator with one of the country’s top fashion directors. Since then, he developed a skill in fashion design which he honed more by enroling at the Fashion Institute of the Philippines taking up a post-graduate course in fashion design.

Since then, there was no turning back for Julius. He immersed himself in the world of fashion and joined Philippine Fashion Week which is considered the olympics of the local fashion industry. In the process, he was able to meet different kinds of people that led to where he is now – a stylist for some of the shows of GMA 7.

It was in 2007 when he realized that he has made it in the very meticulous and discriminating world of Philippine fashion. Showbiz personalities started to contact him for their needs and he made clothes for some artists of ABS-CBN. During that time, he partnered with another Bedan designer and opened a shop named BuReau. Both were successful in their business venture but, eventually, they had to have their own ateliers due to the increasing client demands. Their shop became too small for them. Aside from politicians, political wives, brides and other clients, he has dressed up celebrities like Regine Velasquez, Alden Richards, Maine Mendoza, Mariel Rodriguez, Ogie Alcasid, Derrick Monasterio, Dayanara Torres, Julie Ann San Jose, Jose Manalo, etc.

Years in designing made Julius a credible name in showbiz fashion. Soon, styling was reckoning and he gave in to the demands of the job. Anyway, fashion design and styling are in the same category hence, he can easily juggle and incorporate one with the other.

Currently, he does the clothes and styling for some of the stars of GMA 7 shows namely: All Out Sundays, Catch Me Out Philippines, Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko among others. He also does styling jobs for Lazada and Shopee.

But the Bedan in him is still very evident whether he is with his Bedan barkadas or at work. He always make it a point to pray before doing anything…proof that he follows the Bedan values of Ora et Labora. He has remained unaffected despite all his achievements.

After fashion, it is surprising that he wants to settle in the countryside where there is abundant sun and sea. From the world of glitz and glamour, he wants to live a simple and relaxing life whether in his province or somewhere else where he can enjoy life’s bliss. That’s Julius Tarog – a Bedan fashionista and stylista!
